Former editor-in-chief of Echo of Moscow Alexey Venediktov (recognized as a foreign agent in Russia) had to apologize for an anecdote told by the host of the YouTube channel “Living Nail” Lisa Lazerson.

A scandalous broadcast occurred last night: Lisa Lazerson told an anecdote about comparing a carriage with concrete to a carriage with small Jewish children. This was perceived by many viewers as a manifestation of anti-Semitism and an insult to the memory of children killed in Israel by Hamas terrorists.

On the morning broadcast, Alexey Venediktov apologized, saying that this was a monstrous joke that was inappropriate.

Lisa Lazerson herself also appeared on the morning broadcast. She explained that Jews have always made jokes about the Holocaust, and this was created specifically to get rid of fear after those tragic events. According to her, she told on air a terrible anti-Semitic joke from the 70s of the last century as an example of Soviet anti-Semitism and hoped that it would be perceived that way. She apologized to everyone who was offended by this.
