Vegetarian prisoners will be counted in Russian prisons

To explain to relatives what packages to send them
Civil activists decided to count the number of vegetarian prisoners in pre-trial detention centers and colonies. Human rights activists have developed a project during which a census of prisoners who do not consume meat products will be conducted. The purpose of the unusual census is to provide people who have excluded meat from their diet with familiar food in places that are not so remote.
As MK learned, the list has already begun to be compiled – there are about 20 prisoners on it, including people “with names.” Previously, during the selection of a preventive measure, they stated at court hearings that they could not eat the food that was offered in temporary detention centers and pre-trial detention centers. But there is no alternative for vegetarians. However, the main problem for such prisoners arises already in colonies. Theoretically, convicts can shop at a stall, but if they work, during a break they cannot go to their unit to eat their food. Criminals are forced to stay in the canteen and eat the food prepared by the colony cooks.
In addition, relatives and friends of vegetarians often do not understand what exactly can be sent to prison. It is generally accepted that these are not only vegetables and fruits. Activists have developed a list of products that can be sent to opponents of meat in a pre-trial detention center or colony – pates, peanuts, nuts, soy meat. These products are not prohibited, but few people would think of putting them in the transfer.
