Vedomosti: the authorities will create a “school of mayors” similar to the “school of governors”

At a meeting of the Presidential Council for the Development of Local Self-Government (LSG), which will be held on April 20, the creation of a “school of mayors” for managers who can lead large municipalities will be announced. The newspaper reported Vedomosti citing two sources close to the presidential administration.
According to Vedomosti, the “school of mayors” should compensate for the lack of qualified personnel in LSG. According to the newspaper, training at the “school of mayors” will take place at the RANEPA. In addition, the management workshop “Senezh” is also considered as a site.
Separately, the meeting will discuss the former military, writes “Vedomosti”. As one of the interlocutors of the newspaper said, among the professional soldiers who are demobilized from the war zone in Ukraine, they can find a personnel reserve for work in municipal bodies.
Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to create a management personnel reserve program at the Higher School of Public Administration of the RANEPA in 2017. For six years, more than 300 people have passed through the “school of governors”. Of these, 49 later became heads of regions and interim heads of regions.
