Vedomosti: requests from United Russia about the special operation closed on Andrei Turchak

State Duma deputies from United Russia will send appeals regarding the military operation in Ukraine exclusively to the first vice-speaker of the Federation Council Andrei Turchak, who heads the working group on mobilization and military operations. Deputies have already received notifications from the faction about the change of the addressee, they write Vedomosti.
The decision to forward questions and appeals on the military operation to the working group of Andrei Turchak, the sources of the publication say, was made by agreement with the Russian government.
In accordance with Russian law, deputies can send requests to the head and members of the government, the prosecutor general, the chairman of the Investigative Committee and the leadership of other federal government bodies. In particular, Art. 14 of the law on the status of a senator and a deputy emphasizes that the appeal is sent by them “independently”.
The interlocutor of Vedomosti, close to the State Duma, considers the above decision quite logical, since the working group headed by Mr. Turchak was created in order to “vacuum up” initiatives related to the military operation in Ukraine, process and only then send it to the government.
Thus, the source notes, it is possible to reduce the load on the system, because from time to time the requests of some parliamentarians duplicate each other, in this regard, the working group acts as a kind of filter that can, in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense, work on them.
The working group was formed on December 20, 2022 by order of President Vladimir Putin. In addition to Andrei Turchak, it included war correspondents, deputy chairman of the Federation Council Nikolai Zhuravlev, as well as director of the Roscosmos department Alexander Zakharenko and deputy defense minister Viktor Goremykin.
