State Minister of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Ruben Vardanyan faces 14 years in prison in Azerbaijan.
Vardanyan was accused of financing terrorism, as well as participating in the creation of illegal groups and organizing the illegal stay of foreigners in Azerbaijan.
Vardanyan was detained by Azerbaijani security forces while crossing the Akari bridge on the Azerbaijani border while trying to travel to Goris, Syunik region of Armenia. Yerevan promised to take measures for his release.
