Figure skater Kamila Valieva has stopped receiving a scholarship from the President of Russia, the press service of the Ministry of Sports reported. January 29, the result of an athlete at the Olympic Games in Beijing was canceled by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) due to an anti-doping rule violation.

“Due to disqualification, Kamila Valieva was excluded from the list of candidates for the Russian Federation national figure skating team. The payment of the scholarship of the President of the Russian Federation to her has been stopped,” the Ministry of Sports told TASS.

In accordance with the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the presidential scholarship is paid to Olympic champions for life, and to silver and bronze medalists of the Olympic Games – during the period of being on the list of candidates for the Russian national sports team. For Olympic champions, the scholarship is set at 52 thousand rubles, for silver medalists – 39 thousand rubles, bronze – 30 thousand rubles.

On January 29, CAS decided to disqualify Kamila Valieva for four years due to an anti-doping rule violation. The banned substance trimetazidine was found in her sample. All results of the Russian figure skater since December 2021 have been cancelled. On February 29, an appeal against the CAS decision in the case of Kamila Valieva was registered in the Swiss Federal Court.
