Valieva may be disqualified for four years under WADA lawsuit

An appeal by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) in a doping case by Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva has been registered with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The document notes that the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) did not meet the deadlines set by WADA for considering Valieva’s case.
In the appeal, the text of which is published on website CAS, the anti-doping agency, is demanding that CAS find Kamila Valieva guilty of an anti-doping rule violation and suspend her from international competition for four years. WADA’s demands also include the annulment of the athlete’s results at the Beijing Olympics and the deprivation of her gold medal.
December 25, 2021 WADA discovered in the sample of fifteen-year-old Kamila Valieva, there are traces of the prohibited drug trimetazidine. The results of the examination were made public in February 2022, the skater claims that the drug could have entered her body by accident.
