On February 22, the State Duma and the Federation Council (SF) will hold an unscheduled meeting, postponed from March 1. Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko explained this by the government’s request, which insists on the adoption of a number of budget and tax laws by the end of the month.
“The government turned to us with a request: before March 1, it is necessary to adopt several laws relating to the Tax and Budget Code, so that they already work from March 1, the budget is formed normally, otherwise we will lose a month,” said Valentina Matvienko during today’s meeting.
She commented on the postponement of the meeting due to the fact that, in her opinion, “a million versions of some upcoming incomprehensible events” appeared on the Internet.
On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin will deliver a speech to the Federal Assembly. A year earlier, on February 21, 2022, Vladimir Putin held an expanded meeting of the Security Council, after which he announced the recognition of the independence of the DPR and LPR. These events preceded the entry of Russian troops into Ukraine on February 24, 2022. According to information RBCRIA Novosti and TASS, on February 22, a rally-concert in Luzhniki with the participation of the president is planned.
