Uzbek diasporas condemned the head of the community, Batarov, for insulting SVO fighters

The Federal National-Cultural Autonomy of Uzbeks of Russia (FNKA “UzRos”), the All-Russian Congress of Uzbeks and Uzbekists (VKUU), as well as the Kurash Federation of Russia (FKR) condemned the statements of the president of the interregional Uzbek community “Vatandosh” Usman Baratov. Previously, Mr. Baratov published a post on the Odnoklassniki social network with comments about egg prices, which military correspondents considered offensive to the participants of the SVO.

The President of the FNCA “UzRos” and the head of the FKR Ibragim Khudayberdiev and an employee of the press service of the VKUU German Kombarov recorded video messages in which they condemned the actions of Usman Baratov. The video was filmed in the same room, against the backdrop of a joint photograph of President Vladimir Putin with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The video was published on the YouTube channel CTR Mediaand press services three organizations.

Ibragim Khudayberdiev stated in his address that Mr. Baratov is the president of an organization that does not exist. “As far as we know, living in the Russian Federation, there is no such organization. Maybe there once was. <...> Such destructive statements are the opinion of one person, this is not the opinion of the community of Uzbeks living in the Russian Federation,” said Mr. Khudaiberdiev.

German Kombarov, in turn, called Usman Baratov’s post “offensive and provocative insinuations.” According to him, Mr. Baratov made “offensive statements” against the Russian authorities. German Kombarov noted that VKUU regarded his post as “a personal insult and provocation.”

As reported “RIA News”, the leaders of Uzbek national-cultural organizations in Russia also condemned the actions of Usman Baratov. According to a letter from representatives of organizations, which the agency has at its disposal, representatives of the Uzbek diaspora consider Mr. Baratov’s actions to be “ignorance and rudeness.” RIA Novosti did not provide the names of the organizations and the names of their representatives who are the authors of this letter. According to the agency’s material, the letter was signed by the heads of the Uzbek diasporas in Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as 17 constituent entities of the Russian Federation.

January 17, Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin instructed initiate a criminal case for insulting participants in the military operation against Usman Baratov. What exactly became the reason for initiating the case is unknown. On January 16, a number of military correspondents and patriotic Telegram channels drew attention to Usman Baratov’s post on the Odnoklassniki social network dated December 16, in which he comments on the situation with egg prices in Russia. Attached to the post was a picture of chickens and the caption: “No butter, no eggs! Bring back the roosters from the front!” In military and patriotic Telegram channels, this phrase was considered an insult to combatants.

Shortly before publications related to Usman Batarov’s post in Odnoklassniki, Mr. Batarov’s interview with the project was published Rasstriga_doc. In it, he expressed disagreement with calling all Russians Russians. Usman Baratov noted that he is an Uzbek and a citizen of Russia, but “does not want to dissolve.”
