US will supply Taiwan with $850 million worth of ammunition

Taiwan’s military has begun preparing for a large-scale conflict. At least for this reason, they decided to sign two contracts with the United States for the supply of ammunition. The total cost of the proposed transaction is $853.8 million. This follows from documents published on the Taiwan government procurement website.
The first contract was signed on November 13th. According to this document, the Americans must supply air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles to the island. Moreover, the customer must receive them by the end of this year. The missiles will be shipped at a base that will in the future host 66 fighter jets, which will also be supplied by the Americans.
The second contract was signed on November 17. It involves the purchase of “high-explosive and other shells.” Perhaps we are talking about ammunition for 30 mm guns. They are installed on Taiwanese infantry fighting vehicles. This contract must be completed by 2029.
