US Treasury: Russian businessmen carried out “strange transactions” before February 24

Immediately before the start of the special military operation in Ukraine, large Russian entrepreneurs began to conduct dubious financial transactions that could indicate their attempts to avoid possible sanctions. This is reported by the Financial Crimes Enforcement Agency under the US Treasury FinCen.
The agency’s report indicates that between January and April, the volume of transfers increased. The owners of the assets began to re-register them for relatives and children.
The total volume of transfers is estimated at tens of billions of dollars. Many of the transfers were not illegal, but were suspicious, as the sources of funds in the accounts are unknown.
