“By mutual agreement of the parties, the talks between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hossein Amir Abdallahian, previously scheduled for January 17, have been postponed to a later date,” the ministry said.

Last week, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova reported that on January 17 a meeting between Sergei Lavrov and Hossein Amir Abdollahian will take place in Moscow. According to her, within the framework of these negotiations, the Foreign Ministers of Russia and Iran will discuss such issues as the situation around the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the Iranian Nuclear Program (JCPOA), interaction between the two states on international platforms, the situation in Syria, Afghanistan, the Transcaucasus and the Caspian problem. .

“It is planned to discuss the bilateral agenda, primarily its trade and economic component in the context of the implementation of key joint projects in the field of energy, transport, and other industries, including taking into account the transition to the final phase of the negotiation process to conclude a full-fledged agreement on a free trade zone between the EAEU and Iran,” Zakharova emphasized earlier.
