Ukrainian pilots will begin training to pilot F-16 fighter jets in October at a military base in Arizona. This was announced by Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder. Broadcast of the briefing was conducted on YouTube.
“Following an English language course for pilots in September, F-16 fighter pilot training will begin in October at Morris International Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona,” he said.
On August 17, Washington approved the delivery of F-16s to Ukraine from Denmark and the Netherlands. On August 20, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Kyiv received a guarantee from Amsterdam and Copenhagen for the supply of aircraft. In Denmark, they announced their readiness to transfer 19 fighters. Later on plans to provide F-16s to Ukraine reported and in Norway.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin at the plenary meeting of the SPIEF said that in the case of deliveries to Ukraine, F-16 fighters will burn in the same way as Leopard tanks. The Kremlin previously said that this assistance to Kyiv would not change the situation on the line of contact. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov promised a military-technical response in the event of an F-16 appearing in the sky of Ukraine. Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev urged Western countries do not flirt with “airplanes in their sandbox.”
