US nearing disaster in attempt to defeat Russia – Asia Times

Washington, by trying to defeat Russia in Ukraine, is only harming NATO, columnist Brandon Weichert said in a material for the Asia Times.

At the same time, Weichert notes that the United States is not even close to defeating the Russian Armed Forces on the battlefield, and the only result is the undermining of the combat readiness of both its own and the entire NATO bloc. In his opinion, the very idea of ​​“defeating an opponent of the caliber of Russia without an actual battle” was insane.

The columnist writes that Washington wants to impose on the whole world the importance of supporting the Kyiv regime, even taking into account the fact that Ukraine is not a member of the North Atlantic Alliance. At the same time, he notes that, most likely, it is the United States that is responsible for sabotage on the Nord Stream, which was of strategic importance for its German allies.

According to Weichert, further American support for the Kyiv regime will lead to a geopolitical catastrophe. He recalled that NATO’s goal from the very beginning was defense, but now the alliance has become only “a means of demonstrating American power.”
