Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin said that the United States of America carried out strikes on two facilities belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and pro-Iranian groups located in Syria.
According to him, the strike was carried out in self-defense on the orders of US President Joe Biden.
“The American military struck two targets located in western Syria. These facilities were used by the IRGC and various groups associated with it,” Austin noted.
He clarified that these attacks are in no way connected with the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Among other things, they do not mean a change in the White House’s policy regarding this conflict.
The Pentagon chief added that these strikes are a response to attacks against Americans in Syria and Iraq that began on October 17.
