US may send additional $400 million military aid to Ukraine

The US could send Ukraine an additional $400 million military aid package that would include HIMARS ammunition and Stryker armored personnel carriers. About this with reference to sources writes Associated Press agency

The next tranche of military assistance to Kyiv may include missiles for the NASAMS anti-aircraft missile system, Stinger anti-aircraft systems, and Javelin anti-tank systems. The US can also send howitzer rounds and 32 Stryker armored vehicles. Along with this, the package is planned to include mortars, Hydra-70 missiles, 28 million rounds of ammunition and small Hornet reconnaissance drones.

This military aid package has not been officially announced. The agency clarified that the weapons are provided within the powers of the president, which will allow the Pentagon to quickly take equipment from stocks and deliver it to Ukraine within a few days.

On July 19, the Pentagon press service reported that the United States had allocated another $1.3 billion military assistance package to Ukraine. The new assistance package consists of 13 items, including: four NASAMS air defense systems, tube-launched, optically tracked and wire-guided (TOW) missiles, Phoenix Ghost and Switchblade unmanned aerial systems (UAS), UAV detection and electronic warfare equipment, mine clearance equipment, aviation and artillery ammunition, in particular 152-mm shells for artillery, as well as 150 fuel trucks, 115 tactical vehicles for transporting equipment, etc.

On July 7, the White House announced the transfer of cluster munitions to Kyiv. Washington said Ukraine had provided the United States with written assurances that the ammunition would be used “with care.” On July 13, the Pentagon reported that weapons were already in Ukraine. After these reports, the Kremlin stated that if such weapons were used, Russia would be forced to take countermeasures.
