US Director of National Intelligence Avril Haynes said during a Senate hearing that the country’s intelligence agencies are now studying two versions of the origin of COVID-19.
“There is a broad consensus in the intelligence community that the pandemic was not the result of a biological weapon,” she said.
Also according to Haynes, experts do not believe that this disease is a consequence of genetic engineering.
At the same time, there is still disagreement about whether there was a laboratory leak or whether the spread of the coronavirus occurred naturally from an infected animal.
Haynes reproached China for not cooperating properly, which hinders the clarification of the truth.
