EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Josep Borrell said that €450 million in compensation was allocated from the European Peace Fund for the supply of ammunition to Ukraine. About it reported “RIA News”.
“That’s tens of thousands of shots every day,” Borrell said of the EU spending on ammunition supplies. According to him, now most of the funds are spent on the supply of artillery supplies.
On March 8, the High Representative offered to allocate €1 billion from the European Peace Fund for the supply of ammunition to Ukraine. Borrell also declaredthat does not see a threat to the security of the European Union in the devastation of ammunition depots. According to him, the European countries, “fortunately for them, are not at war.”
Formerly Swedish representation in the Council of Europe reportedthat the EU has approved a €2 billion increase in the European Peace Fund. “This decision sends a clear signal of the EU’s continued commitment to military support for Ukraine and other partners,” the office wrote on its Twitter account.
The Russian authorities have repeatedly announced retaliatory actions against the supply of weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). On February 2, Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened Western countries that the Russian Federation had “something to answer, and the use of armored vehicles would not end.”
