Russia has become the leader in nuclear fuel supplies to the United States

Russia has regained its status as the largest supplier of uranium to the United States of America. This was stated by the editor-in-chief and founder of the scientific and business portal “Atomic Energy 2.0” Pavel Yakovlev, noting that the Americans cannot do without nuclear fuel supplies from the Russian Federation.

According to the publication aif.ru, in 11 months of 2023, the United States purchased this type of fuel from Russia for $1.007 billion – this is the maximum figure since 2010.

According to the expert, the growing need to provide stable uranium products in the United States confirms their interest in a promising and innovative market.

It is noted that in the last month of autumn last year, the United States purchased uranium from only four countries – Russia, Great Britain, Belgium and Japan.

The expert noted that over the past two decades, the Russian Federation has not only supported its resource and production base, but also conquered the global nuclear market. This was facilitated by mutually beneficial integrated solutions.

“proven nuclear energy technologies, unique high-tech proposals in the world for training and education, environmental safety and national infrastructure,” Yakovlev noted.

Earlier, the House of Representatives passed a bill on ban on Russian uranium. The document envisages restricting the import of low-enriched uranium produced in the Russian Federation.

However, the US Department of Energy, in consultation with the Secretary General and the Secretary of the Treasury, will be able to issue import permits for its imports, but to the extent permitted by applicable law. Restrictions are provided until the end of 2040.
