US Congress introduces bill to educate schools on the dangers of communism

A bill has been introduced into the US Congress to teach schoolchildren the dangers of communism and similar political ideologies. It was introduced into parliament by Representative Maria Elvira Salazar.

The text of the document states that the purpose of the law is to help parents, educational institutions and public organizations in warning schoolchildren about the destructive manifestations of communism. The author of the bill claims that communism is responsible for the deaths of more than one hundred million people in the world, and also that one and a half billion people on the planet still suffer under communism.

Also, the “Importance of Studying Communism Act” talks about the need to discuss in schools certain political movements whose ideology conflicts with the principles of freedom and democracy, which have been the highest values ​​since the founding of the United States.

The bill was sponsored by Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar. She was born in Miami, into a family of Cuban immigrants, and spent her childhood in Puerto Rico. Before being elected to Congress, she was a television presenter for the Spanish-language sections of American media. She previously said she would support a complete lifting of the US trade embargo against Havana only after democracy is established in Cuba. At the same time, she emphasized that democratic socialism implies oppression, poverty and exile. Salazar also opposed the recognition of migrant children as American citizens by birthright in the United States. She cited a number of abuses against immigrants in South Florida as the basis for this.
