The United Launch Alliance (ULA) has decided not to launch the heavy Atlas V rocket powered by the Russian RD-180 engine, which was supposed to launch the classified NROL-107 Silent Barker vehicle into low Earth orbit in the interests of the National Reconnaissance Office and the United States Space Force. NSF reports.

The ULA said the launch was canceled “due to personnel safety, critical payloads and the approaching Tropical Storm Idalia.”

The publication notes that the satellite will provide the ability to search, detect and track objects thanks to a space sensor. In other words, it will allow monitoring the operation of other spacecraft in geostationary orbit.

NSF also writes that the delayed launch would be the ninety-eighth launch in Atlas V history, and the last it would produce for the National Reconnaissance Agency.
