Uralmash started defending the champion title by defeating the debutant

Ekaterinburg basketball club “Uralmash” started the new Superleague season with a crushing victory.
In the first match, the current winners of the tournament met away with the newcomer to the championship, the Rusichi club from Kursk. Unlike Yekaterinburg, the Kursk team have already played the first match of the new season, losing on October 8 at home to Tempu-SUMZ-UMMC from Revda 71:94.
If Rusichi managed to win the first quarter against Revda, then in the meeting with Uralmash from the very beginning of the game the difference in class in favor of the hosts became obvious. Mikhail Terekhov’s wards won the first quarter with a score of 32:20, by the big break they brought the advantage to 26 points, and by the middle of the third quarter, the factory team’s advantage had reached a double size – 80:40.
The only intrigue of the final quarter was the question of whether Uralmash would be able to surpass the achievement of University-Yugra from Surgut, which scored 114 points the day before in the match with Barnaul. The Urals coped with this task one and a half minutes before the end. The final score is 116:69.
Uralmash will play the next match on October 14 in Tambov against the club of the same name, and the first home game will be held on October 19 at the Yekaterinburg Palace of team sports.
Recall that in the 2021/2022 season, Uralmash won the Superleague title. The Factory workers set a tournament record with a streak of 23 wins in a row, including winning all nine playoff matches.
In the off-season, Uralmash applied to join the United League, but was refused. Shortly thereafter, head coach Evgeny Pashutin and Superleague MVP Justin Roberson left the team. Mikhail Terekhov was appointed as a new mentor.
