Uralmash snatched a ticket to the Superleague final in the last seconds

Ekaterinburg basketball club “Uralmash” beat “Khimki” near Moscow in the third semifinal match of the Superleague.

After two victories in Yekaterinburg, Uralmash was considered the favorite in the third meeting on the opponent’s court. The start of the game lived up to expectations. The “factory workers” quickly made a reserve of eight points, which they held until the end of the first quarter.

Nevertheless, Khimki managed not only to close the gap, but also to make a similar lead in the other direction. The success of the hosts was facilitated by the extremely low percentage of free throws made by the opponent – according to the results of the meeting, it amounted to 45%. 17 seconds before the end the score was 77:73 in favor of the hosts. Uralmash managed to score a three-point shot, but there were seven seconds left before the siren, and Milos Pavicevich had no time-outs left. However, Uralmash was saved by a miracle: three seconds before the end of the game, the host’s player Yevgeny Fidiy lost the ball, which went to Alexander Zakharov, who brought Javonte Douglas to the basket. Alexander Maltsev fouled and Douglas made two free throws. The remaining second “Khimki” was not enough for a productive attack.

Thanks to the victory, Uralmash reached the Superleague final for the third time in a row. In the decisive series of up to three victories, the Yekaterinburgers will meet with the Moscow Runa. The first two games will be held in Yekaterinburg
