Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Republic of North Ossetia – Alania reported on the closure from 19:15 Thursday, February 2, of the road from Vladikavkaz to the village of Lars, where there is a checkpoint on the Russian-Georgian state border. Crossing the border at the checkpoint “Upper Lars” is possible only by car.

The agency said in a statement that traffic is closed to all types of road transport “due to the deterioration of weather conditions in Georgia”, as well as due to “the impossibility of ensuring safe passage” and “taking into account the recommendations of the Georgian border police”. At the same time, it is indicated that movement is prohibited only “in the direction of exit from the Russian Federation.”

The restrictions will remain in effect until further notice.
