A new administrator from the canonical UOC has been appointed in the Khmelnytsky diocese. They became the former vicar of the Kyiv Metropolis Viktor. This decision was made by the Synod of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC).
Earlier in Khmelnitsky, the cathedral was captured by supporters of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU). The Holy Synod released Metropolitan Anthony of Khmelnytsky and Starokonstantinovsky from the administration of the Khmelnytsky diocese. His Grace Archbishop Victor of Baryshevsky was appointed in his place.
In recent weeks, a scandal has flared up in Ukraine due to the discrimination by the Kyiv regime of clergy and believers of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which the country’s authorities accuse of having close ties with Russia.
