Unusual “Crystal Turandot”

On the eve of the bright, kind and beloved holiday of Russians – the New Year, the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Center in Moscow hosted a solemn ceremony of presenting the Crystal Turandot honorary awards.
Boris Belenky, Valeria Lanskaya, Alexander Babik, Vladimir Tartakovsky, Nonna Grishaeva, Sergei Gazarov, Irina Apeksimova, Maxim Dunaevsky, Maria Aronova, Vladislav Gandrabura, Klara Novikova, Pavel Gusev, Vladimir Gostyukhin, Alexei Borodin, Vladimir Urin, Mikhail Gusman, Olga Kabo , Valery Barinov, Sofia Apfelbaum, Yevgeny Redko, Nina Shatskaya – the capital’s theatrical beau monde gathered for the solemn ceremony of the 31st theater award “Crystal Turandot”.
The organizers decided to move away from the long-standing tradition of awarding the best Moscow premieres of last season in various categories. This year, “Crystal Turandot” was awarded to the winners of one honorary nomination – “For honor, dignity and service to the audience!”
“The year is not easy, and therefore the ceremony is unusual. There is such a common expression: “I serve in the theater.” This means strengthening oneself and strengthening the one who is nearby, who is on the other side of the ramp, ”Boris Belenky, the founder of the award, told reporters before the ceremony.
The ceremony, hosted by Valeria Lanskaya and Alexander Babik, was based on an original script written by Belenky together with playwright Sergei Plotov.
The prize was given to seven artists: General Director of the Bolshoi Theater Vladimir Urin, Artistic Director of the Russian Academic Youth Theater Alexei Borodin, General Director of the Moscow Operetta Theater Vladimir Tartakovsky, People’s Artist of Russia Valery Barinov, Director of the Taganka Theater Irina Apeksimova, Artistic Director of the Moscow Theater of Rosta Nonna Grishaeva and Belarusian theater and film actor Vladimir Gostyukhin.
The winners were presented with crystal figurines of Turandot, which were made by the masters of Gus-Khrustalny according to the sketch of the Lithuanian artist Remigius Kriukas.
