United Russia is preparing a draft law on breastfeeding support to inform and help mothers. This was announced by one of the authors of the initiative, Tatiana Butskaya, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Family, Women and Children.
In an interview with RIA Novosti, she explained that the bill is being developed within the framework of the legislative group on maternal childhood. The main goal of the project is to support women at all stages, starting with pregnancy, in accordance with the federal breastfeeding program.
Breastfeeding is considered the fourth stage of pregnancy, as the contents of breast milk cannot be replaced by supplements. Butskaya emphasized that the milk formula does not contain stem cells and important trace elements for the child. She also noted that breastfeeding plays an important role in preventing cancer in women.
To prevent misguided breastfeeding advice, experts need to be identified to advise women. Butskaya expressed the opinion that full-time experts or consultants on breastfeeding should be introduced, who will receive appropriate payment.
In addition, it is planned to build a unified federal system of dairy kitchens that will not contribute to the neglect of breastfeeding.
