United Russia Khamzaev proposed to exclude English from the school curriculum

State Duma deputy Sultan Khamzaev (United Russia) proposed moving away from the “pro-Western vector” in the education system and excluding English from the list of compulsory subjects in schools. He drew attention to the fact that with the presence of English in the list of compulsory subjects in educational institutions, “with difficulty” there was time for initial military training, and such subjects as astronomy and drawing “were forgotten at the break of the transition in the education system.”

According to a member of the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption, English became international only because “it was definitely put into the program like that.” “We need to move away from the pro-Western vector in the Russian education system. From the key: it’s time to remove English from the list of compulsory subjects in the secondary education system,” said Mr. Khamzaev “RIA News”.

The deputy expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that “we have been turning the eyes of children to the West since childhood.” He drew attention to the fact that in the educational programs of the United States or Great Britain there is no obligatory Russian language. “For what? When there is such a big world as China, Saudi Arabia, Latin America, India,” Mr. Khamzaev added.

According to the deputy, in schools, first of all, you need to think about the health and psychological state of the child. Therefore, physical education, psychology and “activities for additional socialization of the child” are important. “The country needs strong specialists in various fields, and primarily technical ones, and not only polyglots who know only English,” the deputy added.
