State Duma deputy Sultan Khamzaev (United Russia) believes that Russian officials, deputies and senators should be banned from using foreign cars. In his opinion, all of them should transfer to domestic cars.
“All officials need to transfer to domestic cars. What we produce is what we drive… Foreign elite cars for officials should become a thing of the past,” Mr. Khamzaev told RIA Novosti.
According to the deputy, if some important official’s car doesn’t start in winter “two or three times and he will be late for the meeting,” then “solutions will be quickly found.” “They will do for people as for themselves,” he added.
Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov after test car Lada Aura at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on June 16 urged officials to abandon foreign cars in favor of domestic ones. In his opinion, officials also need to drive cars themselves in order to “use resources more efficiently and be closer to the people.”
