Unemployment in Russia fell to a record 3.2% in May

The unemployment rate in Russia in May updated its historical low, falling to 3.2%, follows from data Rosstat.

In April, inflation was 3.3%, and in March and February – 3.5%. According to Rosstat, the labor force in the country at the age of 15 was 75.8 million people, including 2.4 million unemployed (corresponding to ILO criteria: they did not have a job, they were looking for it and were ready to start it in the surveyed week) . The level of employment of the population amounted to 60.6%.

At the end of March, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that the record low unemployment rate “does not mean that all problems in the labor market have already been resolved.” According to him, questions about the quality of jobs remain open. “In some regions and localities, the unemployment rate is still much higher than the national average.”
