The UN Security Council will hold a meeting over the Israeli strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus

Russia’s First Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Dmitry Polyansky, said in his Telegram channel that the UN Security Council meeting due to Israel’s attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus will take place at 22:00 today.

He clarified that the Iranians appealed to the UN Security Council after the Israeli air attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus with a request to condemn this action.

“As a follow-up to the Iranians’ letter, we requested an open meeting of the UN Security Council,” Polyansky noted.

The First Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN added that the Maltese presidency has scheduled a meeting for 15:00 (22:00 Moscow time) on April 2.
