The Gaza Strip’s healthcare system is virtually paralyzed. The morgues are full. 11 doctors died while on duty. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres announced this before a meeting of the Security Council.

According to him, the situation in Gaza has reached a dangerous new low. Guterres said there would be immediate access for humanitarian missions throughout Gaza to be able to deliver water, food and fuel to everyone in need.

The politician also criticized the ultimatum of the Israeli leadership, which gave 24 hours to a million residents of the northern Gaza Strip to leave their homes. According to Guterres, such a mass exodus would cause a humanitarian catastrophe.

The UN Secretary General also called for the protection of fundamental human rights amid the escalation of the conflict and warned against the use of hostages as “human shields.”
