UN Secretary General demands to stop attacks on civilian ships in the Black Sea

Attacks against food export infrastructure and civilian vessels in the Black Sea must be stopped, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said.
“At the moment, I believe it is extremely important to stop any attacks aimed at food supplies, food export infrastructure, as well as any civilian ships in the Black Sea,” noted he (quote from TASS).
According to Guterres, reports of attacks on port infrastructure are not helping to restore the grain deal and are reducing the willingness in other parts of the world to facilitate Russian food exports.
At the beginning of August, the Ukrainian institution “State Hydrography” published a warning declaring the waters of six Russian ports a “military threat zone.” We are talking about the ports of Anapa, Novorossiysk, Gelendzhik, Tuapse, Sochi and Taman.
On August 5, the tanker “Sig” of the St. Petersburg shipping company “Transpetrochart” received a hole in the engine room area. According to the chairman of the “We are together with Russia” movement Vladimir Rogov, a civilian ship was attacked by Ukrainian naval drones. Commenting on the attack, the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that Kyiv’s actions will not go unanswered.
On July 17, Russia left the grain deal, which was concluded in July 2022. Representatives of Turkey and the UN, on the one hand, and representatives of Russia and Ukraine, on the other, July 22, 2022. The decision was due to the failure to comply with the second part of the agreement, which concerns the abolition of restrictions on export of Russian products.
