UN OHCHR refused to declare the shelling of Belgorod a war crime

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is aware of the Ukrainian army attack on Belgorod, but cannot classify it as a war crime. This statement was made on Thursday, February 15, by the official representative of the organization, Marta Hurtado.
She explained this by the fact that OHCHR is not yet able to determine whether what happened was a war crime or not.
At the same time, the official representative of the UN Secretary General, Stephane Dujaric, recalled that attacks against civilians and infrastructure are prohibited by international humanitarian law. Similar attacks “unacceptable and must be stopped”Dujarric emphasized.
The Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation confirmed that seven people were killed in the shelling, including one child. 18 people were injured, two children and two adults. will be sent to Moscow for treatment.
