UN representatives “share the concern” of the IAEA regarding rocket attacks on the territory of the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), but cannot determine those responsible for the attacks. Deputy Representative of the UN Secretary General Farhan Haq said that the organization would like to stop the attacks.
“We have no way to identify those responsible for these attacks. We would like these attacks to stop,” Mr. Hack said during today’s briefing (it was broadcast on YouTube channel UN).
Since the end of summer, the situation around the integrity of the ZNPP and the consequences of the shelling of its territory has been the subject of discussion by Russian and international politicians. Representatives of various structures associated with nuclear energy warned about the risk of an accident at the ZNPP. Earlier today, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi declaredthat Russian President Vladimir Putin “knows very well” about the situation at the station. Russia blames Ukraine for the shelling, while Kyiv insists that Russian troops themselves are shelling their own nuclear facility.
