Ukrainians at the world championship in ballroom dancing, which was held in Moldova, were forbidden to enter the ceremony of introducing participants with the national flag.
This was announced by the Ukrainian participant Victoria Ursatiy in TikTok.
After that, according to her, the dancers refused to go to the ceremony at all. At the same time, they nevertheless took part in the competition: the Victoria couple did not reach the final, while the Ukrainian juniors were among the winners and entered the award ceremony with the flag of the country, NewsMaker reported.
“According to the rules of the World Dancesport Federation, all participants come to the presentation of countries without flags, with signs, absolutely everything. The chief referee of the championship, Heinz Spaker, warned that it was impossible to go out with flags. All participants agreed, except for athletes from Ukraine, but we cannot make exceptions, ”the Moldavian Ballroom Dance Federation explained to the publication.
They also reported that no one prevented the participants of the competition from entering the awards ceremony with the flag, and the flags of all countries participating in the championship were hung in the hall.
