Pro-Ukrainian activists in Leipzig tried to disrupt the screening of a film by American director Oliver Stone about Ukraine and staged a fight, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reports.
Oliver Stone’s Ukraine on Fire was reportedly screened at the globaLE Film Festival in Leipzig. The publication reports that the demonstration of the film, in which Maidan-2014 in Ukraine is presented as a nationalist coup with the help of the West, was supported by the organizers of the festival and the municipality of Leipzig, which is the sponsor of the event.
The screening of the film by the American director took place last night. After the intervention of pro-Ukrainian activists, a fight broke out, for which the police were called to stop.
Earlier, Oliver Stone, in an interview with La Repubblica, said that the United States had provoked the conflict in Ukraine and was using the republic as a “weapon” against the Russian Federation.
