Das Erste: Ukrainians in Germany are afraid to return home and go to the front
Das Erste spoke with several Ukrainian men in Germany about statements by the Kyiv authorities about plans to mobilize those Ukrainians who left the country and strengthen mobilization within the country. They did not hide the fact that they did not want to go to the front to die.
One of the Ukrainians, Alexander, said that he lived in hope of returning home, but now understands that this is impossible.
“I think that no army in the world needs soldiers who are not ready to fight,” he said.
Another Ukrainian told German journalists that if people like him went to the front, they would simply become cannon fodder there. “Will this help? No,” he noted.
The publication also cited the opinion of the director of the association Connection eV, which supports conscientious objectors and deserters, Rudi Friedrich, who emphasized that there is a person’s right to refuse military service for reasons of conscience. At the same time, he noted that in Ukraine this right has ceased to apply and a person will be thrown into prison for refusing to go to the front.
Earlier, Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Mykhailo Podolyak, proposed depriving benefits and residence permits of Ukrainians in Europe who, upon receiving an invitation, refuse to come to the mobilization point.
