Ukrainians began to complain about mobilization to the European Court of Human Rights

Three complaints from Ukrainian men who were not allowed to cross the Ukrainian border have already appeared on the website of the European Court of Human Rights.

The applicants’ complaints indicate that the restriction on their travel outside the country during martial law is illegal. Moreover, the measure violated their right to freedom of movement.

According to the publication Strana.ua, all three citizens of Ukraine had documents confirming their right to cross the border of the republic. At the same time, the border service did not let these citizens through, presenting them with a written refusal that did not indicate specific reasons, or without presenting any paper at all.

“The law on mobilization, which the authorities referred to, did not regulate issues related to crossing state borders, and did not specify what documents were necessary for this,” the lawsuits say.
