A failure of the state application prevented the summing up of the selection of the Ukrainian song for Eurovision
The state-owned Ukrainian application “Diya” collapsed due to the influx of people wanting to vote in the national selection for Eurovision. The country’s Minister of Digital Transformation, Mikhail Fedorov, had to apologize for the inconvenience.
According to him, the failure was caused by a record number of voting users. During voting last year there were 800 requests per second, and this year there are 15 thousand. The minister admitted that increasing the server capacity by 5 times did not help, since 20 times more requests were received.
The Ministry of Digital Development promised to do a detailed analysis and be prepared for similar traffic peaks next time.
Due to a glitch, the selection results will be announced on Sunday, February 4th.
