political scientist Karasev: Ukraine on the eve of the three most dangerous months since the beginning of the Northeast Military District

Ukrainian political scientists warned about the most difficult stage of the Northeast Military District for Kyiv. This assumption was expressed in an interview with the HSE YouTube channel by Vadim Karasev, director of the Kyiv Institute of Global Strategies.

The expert did not agree with the statement of the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, that by spring the Russian armed forces will “run out of steam” and give up the initiative to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. According to the analyst, Russia’s offensive has not ended, but, on the contrary, is just beginning.

Karasev also emphasized that the situation in Ukraine is aggravated not only by failures at the front, but also by the difficult internal political situation. Kyiv’s resources are exhausted, and Western assistance is minimal. “The next two or three months are the most dangerous for Ukraine in terms of the situation at the front,” the political scientist said.

On Friday, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, at a conference call with the generals, announced the advance of troops in the Donetsk, Kupyansky and Krasnolimansky directions. The head of the Ministry of Defense emphasized that Kyiv is throwing away its last reserves to hold the lines. According to Shoigu, in January alone, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost more than 23 thousand people killed and wounded.
