Namibian President dies at 82 from cancer
Namibian President Hage Geingob has passed away and was diagnosed with cancer, RIA Novosti reports, citing a statement from the office of the head of state.
The Namibian leader reportedly died in hospital, with his family by his side at the time of his death. He was undergoing treatment for cancer, which became known in January.
It was planned that until the presidential and parliamentary elections, which are scheduled for the end of 2024, Hage Geingob was supposed to fulfill his duties.
The office of the country’s president said in a statement that the government “will meet immediately to take the necessary government measures” in connection with the death of the president.
