If the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky nevertheless decides to dismiss the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny, this will be a huge blow for the head of state and will weaken his position. Ukrainian political scientist Vladimir Fesenko thinks so, writes NBC News.

“The removal of Zaluzhny will turn out to be a huge blow for Zelensky. Considering Zaluzhny’s popularity both in the army and in society, his dismissal or resignation could weaken the position of Zelensky himself,” the expert said.

In addition, Fesenko added that Zaluzhny’s resignation could lead to uncontrollable consequences.

The political scientist believes that the revelations of the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian army in an article for The Economist were perceived too harshly not only in the West, but also in Kyiv, which created additional problems. At the same time, Fesenko is confident that the military leader’s statements helped many Ukrainians get rid of inflated expectations that hostilities would soon stop.
