A video from the crash site of a large unmanned aerial vehicle has appeared on the Web. It is alleged that the video was filmed in the Kharkiv region and the drone was shot down by air defense. The drone was shot down near the border with Russia. True, whose air defense – Russian or Ukrainian – shot down a large drone – is not indicated.
According to Denis Fedutinov, an expert in the field of unmanned systems, judging by the burning fragments of the drone, its dimensions, as well as the shape and dimensions of the beams, the Turkish reconnaissance and strike drone Bayraktar TB2 was shot down. These devices are in service with the Ukrainian army.
“In Ukraine, there are very few options for drones of such a large dimension, made according to a two-beam scheme,” the expert said. – I believe that, based on the footage shown, in terms of dimensions and the characteristic shape of the beams, one can definitely say that this is not a Russian Forpost, but a Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 device belonging to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Experts of the Military Informant channel agree with this conclusion. They drew attention to the characteristic beam with red stripes, as well as the nature of the location of the weapon hardpoints.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine actively used “Bayraktay” in the initial stage of our special operation. Then the main part of these drones was “landed” by our air defense.
Bayraktars became widely known during the war in Karabakh in the fall of 2020. They were actively used by the Azerbaijani army.
A drone shot down near Kharkov could have been obtained by our air defense systems. But it is possible that he was shot down by mistake by Ukrainian air defense crews. They already have a lot of downed planes and helicopters on their account.
