The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine called for a meeting of the UN Security Council (SC) because of the information received about Russia’s plans to deploy tactical nuclear weapons (TNW) on the territory of Belarus.
“We demand to immediately convene an extraordinary meeting of the UN Security Council for this purpose,” the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The ministry noted that such statements about the intention to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in the Republic of Belarus are a provocative step.
President Vladimir Putin announced his intention to place weapons of mass destruction on the territory of Belarus, stressing that Minsk had been asking for this for a long time. He specified that such actions would be carried out without violating international obligations.
