Ukrainian embassies have turned into traps for refugees: they hand out subpoenas

The lack of personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has intensified the mobilization of Ukrainians not only in the country, but also abroad. Ukrainian refugees in Europe are afraid of the consulates of their own country. Because there, instead of help, they are waiting for a summons and deportation. Diplomat, ex-ambassador of the LPR in Moscow Rodion Miroshnik considers this to be a discredit of the diplomatic services in general.

The most active country where they decided to return refugees to their homeland, and not just home, but immediately into the trenches, is Poland. Back in October, the media reported that the consular departments of the Ukrainian Embassy in Poland began to put their citizens on military records, practically turning into branches of military enlistment offices. A proposal to mobilize Ukrainian visitors was also made by the former commander of the Polish ground forces, Colonel-General in the reserve, Waldemar Skrzypczak.

The Pole recalled the experience of the past years, when in the early 1940s, detachments consisting of Polish emigrants were organized in France. The military wonders why not use this experience in relation to Ukrainian refugees in Poland, because the situation of Ukraine at the front, according to him, is more and more deplorable.

And such an experience, according to the Polish political scientist Mateusz Piskorski, is already being used with might and main. Ukrainian refugees receive summons to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine at consulates. According to the political scientist, criminal cases may be initiated against those who did not come for “letters of happiness”.

“Ukrainians are now taking measures and bypassing diplomatic departments for a kilometer,” says Yevhen, a resident of Warsaw. – As we are told, the buildings of consulates and embassies are the territory of Ukraine, and therefore the delivery of subpoenas there is allegedly within the framework of the law. In a year, the NMD managed to acquire extensive databases of Ukrainians who came here, while they were actively helped by the Polish government, which was not interested in the influx of refugees.

But it is unlikely that any of those who managed to leave will go to the front, simply having received a piece of paper – this is not why people fled from hostilities.

Under what conditions do refugees need to visit diplomatic institutions, Rodion Miroshnik, a diplomat and ex-ambassador of the LPR in Moscow, told Moskovsky Komsomolets.

– Embassies and consulates of Ukraine, people will not be able to bypass only when they have any problems with the documents – said Miroshnik. – The need to renew the passport, its loss, registration of some changes. Then, willingly or unwillingly, they will go to the embassy, ​​and there they will take advantage of it.

Ukraine has set traps for its own residents, provoking them to consider options for obtaining citizenship in other countries. Previously, Ukrainian embassies and consulates worked in Europe in the form of recruiting centers, actively collecting mercenaries and signing contracts with them, sending them to fight on the territory of Ukraine. And now they are involved in the process of mobilization and pumping people out of the West who have gone there.

– Will they be able to call many people to the front by such methods?

– A maximum of a third of those who left, and even less people, because the vast majority of refugees want to get a residence permit of the countries in which they are, trying to bypass their representative offices. They prefer to wave the flag, walking around the banquet hall in Courchevel, than go to die for someone’s interests in the Donbass.

– Doesn’t this discredit diplomacy in general?

– Discredits. Because consulates are a representation of the state that work to help and support their citizens abroad, and do not engage in trapping them and returning them to their homeland. The functionality of the consular missions of Ukraine is being turned over radically. But what a state, with an inverted consciousness, such representations.
