Court in Bryansk arrests Ukrainian for two months on charges of spying for the SBU
The joint press service of the courts of general jurisdiction in the Bryansk region told reporters on Thursday that a court in Bryansk had arrested a Ukrainian citizen for two months on charges of espionage for gathering information constituting a state secret to pass on to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
The message of the press service states that the Sovetsky District Court of Bryansk considered the petition of the investigator of the regional Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation to choose a preventive measure in the form of detention against a citizen of Ukraine who is accused of committing a crime under Article 276 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Espionage”).
The investigation established that a Ukrainian citizen arrived in the city of Klintsy, Bryansk region, after which he collected and illegally transferred information constituting a state secret to a contact for the subsequent transfer of this information to the SBU. The court added that the accused was taken into custody for a period of two months, namely until August 12 of this year.
