Ukrainian Bureau of Investigation conducted searches in the administration of Kyiv

The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) of Ukraine conducted searches in two departments of the Kyiv city administration, headed by Vitali Klitschko, as part of a pre-trial investigation into the misuse of recreational land in one of the city’s parks and abuse of power, reported in the department’s Telegram channel.

The State Bureau of Investigation clarified that during the searches, documents on a tender for concluding an investment agreement were seized. Production is conducted under part 2 of Art. 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Abuse of power or official position, resulting in grave consequences).

“It was established that in 2015 one of the capital’s societies signed an investment agreement with the Kyiv City State Administration on the construction of sports facilities and facilities. However, according to the investigation, the company does not comply with the terms of the investment agreement, in particular on the timing of construction and the schedule for financing the project. Facts of misuse of the territory of the park have also been recorded,” the ministry said in a statement.

The work should have been completed before March 2022, but the readiness of the facilities is 30%. The amount of investments is almost 149 million hryvnia (more than 250 million rubles). The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the involvement of administration officials in non-compliance with the investment agreement.

In July 2019, the State Bureau of Investigation summoned Klitschko for questioning in the case of land fraud. In November 2019 RIA Novosti reportedthat the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) opened a criminal case on treason and embezzlement of money against the mayor of Kyiv and his two deputies.
