Ukrainian activist doused Shenderovich with ketchup

A man with a Ukrainian flag doused satirist Viktor Shenderovich (recognized as a foreign agent in Russia) with ketchup. The incident took place in Vilnius, where the writer gave a concert.

Even before the concert, activists chanted the word “Shame” in Ukrainian against Shenderovich, and when the writer came out to the audience during the intermission, he was doused with ketchup as a sign of dissatisfaction with some of the satirist’s statements. Witnesses of this scene complained to Shenderovich about his attempts to “justify Russia.”

Having received a portion of ketchup in the face, the writer thanked the author of this act “for a meaningful dialogue”, and then added “Well done!” to all those present.

Shenderovich’s dialogue with the activists did not go well, he accused the audience of being “limited people” who “did not read anything.”

In January 2022, Viktor Shenderovich announced his decision to leave Russia. The Kremlin refused to link this decision with the status of a foreign agent assigned to the writer. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov recalled that the foreign agent not limited in the ability to work in Russia. At the same time, the Kremlin speaker expressed the opinion that there was an “attempt to hide in this case from the consideration of the claims of his opponents in court.”
