Ukraine withdrew from the agreement on cooperation in education with the CIS countries

The Ministry of Education of Ukraine announced the withdrawal of Kyiv from the agreement on cooperation in education. The document was signed by the CIS countries in 1992 in Tashkent. Ukraine began the procedure for withdrawing from the CIS after the annexation of Crimea to Russia in 2014.
The Ministry of Education of Ukraine explained the decision by the fact that “the aggressor country of the Russian Federation and its ally the Republic of Belarus” take part in the agreement. Kyiv withdraws from the treaty, as Russia sent troops to Ukraine “with the support” of Belarus.
Kyiv had previously decided to stop participating in all international treaties with Moscow and Minsk. Thus, in August Ukraine terminated the agreement on scientific, technical and economic cooperation in the field of nuclear energy. In March, Kyiv withdrew from an agreement with Russia on the mutual recognition of diplomas.
